YOUNG AMPHIBIANS

Young Amphibians are an Alternative Rock band formed in Leeds, West Yorkshire in 2014.

Having released their debut EP Thought Control within months of founding & with only a handful of gigs under their belts, Young Amphibians were soon attracting audiences across the UK with their unique brand of Alternative Rock & their energetic live shows.

A whirlwind of musical styles, Young Amphibians combine inspired lyrics, catchy guitar hooks, memorable vocal melodies & stop-start dynamics to create their individual sound.

The follow up to Thought Control came in February 2017. The 4 track EP Junked Up Heart offered a more mature side to Young Amphibians' writing, showcasing new influences & styles as well as a more experimental approach to their sound. Produced by Embrace drummer Mike Heaton and released through indie label VICEROY Records, Junked Up Heart was released on limited edition 12" vinyl and CD.

In November 2017, the band began recording a collection of new songs, which made up their third EP Borderline. This EP was the band's first completely DIY release, with all tracks being written, engineered & produced by the band through indie label VICEROY Records. Borderline was released on 2nd November 2018.

The Covid-19 pandemic saw a burst of song writing and home demos, and in summer 2023 the band entered the studio once more to begin the recording of a brand new set of songs. The departure of bassist Joe Jackson saw original line up bass player Alun Davies join them for the sessions. The new tracks, which were debuted at a show in February 2023, see the band move back towards a heavier style, seemingly drawing more influence from alternative & post-punk rock.

The first single French Hospital was released in August 2023, followed by Off Season in September.

The title of the band's 4th EP was announced on 6th October as White Lights Over Ghost Town and has a release date of October 20th 2023.
